Pitch and Pitch Feedback

Pitch and Pitch Feedback.

Pitch

I presented my pitch in front of my peers to gain feedback.

In presenting my pitch I found myself to be quite nervous. I felt as if I hadn't made my ideas quite clear and for that I believed my pitch had suffered. However during the feedback I came to the realisation that my idea was very understood. I received very good feedback with very little criticisms which were easily dismissed. I am going to pursue my idea as it is very favorable among my audience and its an great idea to develop. I have chosen to go along with the song I Like with Tink. As this song works better for the ideas I have for the video.

Pitch Feedback

Overall my pitch was very well received. With very minimal criticisms. However criticisms that I did receive I reflect and altered my idea ever so slightly.

One criticism that stood out to me was the visuals for the end product. For example, the statement was 'How would I make it so that it doesn't look cringey?' Honestly that question couldn't be answered without having a draft of the video. Even though a classmate believed that the concept was strong enough that it wouldn't look as such. This did resonate with me. So a way that I would amend it would be to have small viewings of my footage to my focus group. With feedback from them I can still be making amendments which are necessary.

Another criticism which occurred was the idea that the resolution of the SnapChat videos wouldn't be the same as the others. However this is what I wanted to achieve. With inspiration for Alessia Cara music video to 'I'm Yours.' She filmed the entire video with her phone and a selfie stick. I want to capture the essence of youth and the use of using social media is quite popular so I was quite taken with the idea of using SnapChat for additional footage. Again support by another peer the idea was commented to be good. However I chose not to go with this idea.

Another problem I came across was my cast members. I started out with David Starowicki and Ini Ojo however due to personal circumstances the cast changed ever so slightly. I'm currently trying to recruit two other people, nothing yet has been confirmed.

As you can see there were't many problems with my pitch and it seemed to be very well received and the constructed criticism I received did help me improve my idea. Hopefully like the pitch my first draft will also be well received.

Pitch

Title:
Tink - I Like.
Tory Lanez - Say it

Genre:
The music genre I have selected is R&B and the genre of the actual video is romance – I chose this genre because the song indicates young love, so there is no other direction for me to take. Also, i feel as if young love isn't necessarily celebrated in the music scene.Normally it revolves around a man and how much 'women' surround him.  This therefore would enable me to put a positive spin on the updated version of R&B in videos which we view today.

Form:
The form is a music video that will  promote more interest for the song.

Location:
My music video will include several different locations:
A house where a majority of the video will take place.
A Field.
Library (Probably)

Time:
Most of the filming will be done inside. Mostly in a bedroom so this doesn't really depict the time that i will be filming. However for scenes such as the field scene i would want to film during the a sunny day to represent happiness as this is when most people feel positive  and i would like for my video to promote this message.

Characters:
The main characters: Ini Ojo and David Starowicki
      Maybe a few unnamed extras
·

Plot
The evolution of a positive young  inter-racial relationship.

Key Micro Features (camerawork, editing, sound, mise-en-scene)
Editing:
The most iconic scene in my music video I would like to be them hugging in a field.
I would like to do singular shots of the main characters (Ini Ojo and David Starowicki) for dramatic effect.
·
        Mise-en-scene:
I would like for my music video to be very organic and natural. So they would be wearing their own clothes.
Ini Ojo - has a 90's inspired vibe to the way that she dresses so I would like for her to stick with her style as it does reinforce black culture.
David Starowicki- has a basic urban style which I also find refreshing. Doesn't try too hard but still looks good.
·
     Sound:
      Either
      I like - Tink
      Say it - Tory Lanez
Even though I want my music video to seem very organic I don't want any natural sounds. I want the focus to purely be on the visuals.

Camerawork:
Some of the important shots will include:
The series of mid shot of Ini during the chorus (Or David depending on the song)
The series of mid shots of David and Ini later on in the song.
These are to produce dramatic effect.
·

Target audience
·         The target audience would be mainly older viewers, from the age range of 18 upwards.
·         Some elements, however may appeal to the teenage bracket of 13-17.

Audience appeal
This would attract our targeted audiences because the idea of an inter-racial couple has been accepted but it is very rare when you see a black girl with a white guy. For example Serena Williams getting hate on Twitter for dating a white guy. It would also gain audience appeal as young love is always viewed as very juvenile in the media. However I want it to come across as if the new generation of young adults can have a relationship where they support one another.

Influential music video
·         Alicia Keys Unthinkable – it has the ideology of a black girl and white guy. She received praise for stepping out of the norm and also black lash from the black community for not using a black male counterpart. Seen in her video see has shown how over time it still not accepted. I want to take a spin on it and prove how it has been accept and can also be very positive.

Unique selling point
Urban music usually involves video vixens being half naked. I want to step away from that and instead celebrate young love.
