Initial Ideas.

When looking at the brief for producing my music video, I explored a range of ideas and songs which I could use. These were the ideas that I had come up with. I will brainstorm my ideas from the songs I wanted to pursue.

Family. Chance the Rapper ft Vic Mensa

With this song I wanted to portray my favourite memory from my childhood. The song is about feeling wanted in the community that you were in. So the idea that I had for this song was to have a garden/pool party. I'd had the imagery of a family community vibe. For example, young children playing in the pool, the mothers in the kitchen cooking, and the men doing a barbecue in the garden with teenagers just chilling maybe smoking etc. My artist would be a  male. The camera shots I would mainly use would be a mid shot of the artist. These shots would only be used in the verses of the song for a few seconds between 30-45 seconds (time may vary depending on how it looks). Basically the story would revolve around a positive family environment just celebrating. With a male teen being the main protagonist. I chose not to develop this idea because I based it on being in the summer. So I will be unable to film in autumn/winter time a pool scene.

Break You Off Lucille Ghatti

With this song I wanted to portray two young people in a negative relationship. With the male and female character both going into a negative spiral. For example, sleeping with other people, taking heavy drugs and being abusive to one another. My main character would be the female as it is a female artist. The story would end with the pair looking in the mirror. The girl with makeup down her face from crying and the boy look tired. The most profound will be in the rapping interlude with her sitting down in a corner just lip syncing it this will be the led up shot to the OTS shot of the mirror. To symbolising them reflecting on their relationship. I chose again not to develop this idea because I didn't know how to portray this type of lifestyle without being inappropriate and offensive.

I Like. Tink & Say it. Tory Lanez

In these songs I wanted to explore a young relationship between a multi-cultural couple (black girl and white girl.) I wanted it to be young love situation with a care-free twist whilst still being taken seriously. My artist would have been the girl for 'I like' and the boy for 'Say it.' The popular shots would the bedroom scene which would consist of long, mid and close-up shots. I chose to pursue Tink's I like as it is a blank canvas (there is no video to it) So I can explore my ideas without much influence.

Devils Whisper. Raury

In this song I want to explore a lifestyle which is quite damaging in which teenagers partake in. I wanted it to be based in a desert with the main character being a old man telling a story to his grandchildren. The story being told then becomes the visuals. The main camera movements I will be using is slow motion as I believe it builds suspense and that goes very well with the song. However I am choosing not to do this song because of location queries. I though about changing the scene from a desert to woods but that then takes away the symbolism of the dry wasteland and the devil.
