Roles

As I am working by myself I will be assuming all of the roles. I decided to research further into all of my roles. My main 5 roles will be to become the producer, director, writer, cinematographer, editor. I am dong this to be able to do all of my roles correctly.

Producer:
Music video producers often work with the music video director by overseeing the budget, production schedule, and other tasks associated with music video production. In summary they foresee over the proceedings and making sure that everything is in place. So as producer I will have to make sure these tasks are fulfilled:
  • Location Scout.
As producer I have to make sure that I have suitable locations for my music video. As my music video is quite organic, I will be looking for quite natural surroundings. For example a field. I will be taking shots of each location. I will also present the locations to my actors to ensure that it is okay for them and they are able to get there. I will produce a list to whether or not the location is suitable taking into consideration aspects such as, lighting and whether we are allowed to film there.
  • Production Designer.
As producer I need to make sure that my music video setting and actors are presentable, also making sure that props in necessary are available. For example I want to feature a black and white bandanna in my music video. I will have to ensure that these are provided. Again as I want my scenes to be organic I wouldn't want to change anything about it, I just have to make sure its suitable the same with costumes.
  • Marketing.
As producer I will have to ensure that I have generated interest in my music video. I will do through my subsidiary tasks and social media. For example, making a website and making a single cover. This will generate more buzz for my music video.

Director:
In this there is actually a new form, one that takes an existing song and property and then interpreting it in a way that will satisfy two creative forces, the director and the artist who created the original track. Music video directors have a very specific area of the professional film and video market and, depending on the artist and music label hiring them, can tend to make a very high-end product and a nice profit. Here is a look at how the music video director works in the professional field.

  • What I will do as a director.
I will pay close attention to the story board to ensure I have followed it or made any corrections if any. It is also my role to make sure that my actors perform properly. So I will give plenty of guidance when needed.

Writer:
The job of a writer is to produce the foundation of the idea. To create the story that will be portrayed through various aspects such as, pitches and basic summaries. They work very close to the director and cinematographer to produce the visuals to the music video.

  • Storyboard Artist
As i have to take on this role I will have my own take on this. I will produce two types of story boards, first a basic outline of the story. Then an animatic story board for visuals I will be working quite closely with the cinematographer to produce these story boards. I will ensure that there is a lot of detail included however as I want my video to be more organic I will also use my basic outline story board which will be open  to interpretation from the actors and directors.

  • Producer
SEE PRODUCER. As the writer I will be working quite closely with the produce to help illustrate a story in the poster etc. Again these will be done through my subsidiary tasks.

Cinematography:
Basically, cinematography means bringing a story to life visually. Bringing movement to the writer's script requires more than simply shooting photos or video of a scene. The primary cinematographer, works with the music video director to capture the underlying story in a way that will captivate the audience. The cinematographer coordinates the crew and works with the director to make sure each scene is set up and shot to match the director's vision of the story. For each scene, the cinematographer decides on the best combination of cameras, filters and lenses, as well as where the cameras will be placed, what the lighting should be and when the scene will be shot.

  • Storyboard Artist
SEE WRITER. I will be working alongside the writer to produce the visuals for the storyboard.

  • Technical Director
The Technical Director has the  responsibility for the technical operations of the set  including lighting, sound, set design and construction, and coordinating necessary maintenance. So as technical director I will ensure that I set up my mise-en-scene accordingly.

What Is The Job Of A Cinematographer:

Editor:
Music video editors create the finished product that sells the song and promotes the artist. Jobs include cutting, reassembling and condensing film shot around a song into an ideal length.
